Understanding how mobile work is changing
A consumer technology company wanted to understand how working on the move was changing, and where its products could help. We combined jobs-to-be-done interviews with a workshop and online concept exploration, then prioritized the opportunities with its team.

- Jobs-to-be-done interviews, a co-creation workshop and concept exploration with mobile workers
The question
More people were working away from a fixed desk, and the company wanted to know what that meant for the people doing it and for the products they carry.
It needed a view of who these workers are, what they are trying to get done, and which opportunities deserved its investment.
Our approach
We began with the company’s own past research, interviews with its stakeholders and a landscape of the technologies involved that its experts could add to, then held jobs-to-be-done video interviews with people who work on the move.
A virtual workshop with the client team turned that understanding into early concepts, which an online board explored with workers before a second workshop weighed each opportunity for excitement and feasibility.
What the team came away with
Profiles of the people who work this way, the jobs they need done and the opportunity areas that follow, with a landscape of the market around them.
The team left the final workshop with its priorities already agreed.
